To obtain a Competitors Licence

Book a medical examination with a Cams approved examiner. Refer to following pages for a list of Examiners.
You will need to undergo a fasting blood test prior to a medical examination.
The Medical Examiner will send you a referral for the test.
You will also need a passport type photo to present to the Medical Examiner.
Download a Licence Application form, and send it to Members Services.
Cams Corporate Services, PO Box 427, Caulfield East, VIC 3145.
The Medical Examiner will also send documents to Cams.
Book in with Cams for the Motor Racing Lecture. Call 1300 653 529 to arrange for the Lecture on line.

At your first race, you will undergo an Observed Licence Test.
A P plate will need to be displayed
After Documentation, take your paperwork to the Stewards.
During practice, you will be black flagged. They will observe your entry to the pits, chat with you and observe your departure.
Your driving manner will be watched by the Officials during the race, and provided there are no issues, your paperwork will be signed by the stewards, to be sent to CAMS.
Report to the Stewards after the meeting.
Your licence will be sent to you in due course.

To upgrade to a full Licence,
Compete, to the satisfaction of the Clerk of the Course, at five CAMS circuit racing meetings during previous 24 months, with no less than three of those five circuit racing meetings being completed during the 12 months prior to upgrade application, at no fewer than two different circuits (except where approved by CAMS).
Pass Book is to be signed by the Clerk of the Course at each race meeting. Within any given period prior to upgrade, participate as a trackside official for one eight hour or two four-hour sessions at a Circuit
Race. Pass Book to be signed by Senior Official.

Provisional Circuit Racing Licence
Use a Provisional Circuit (PC) licence to compete in:
+ All circuit events up to and including State Championships, National Series and National Historic events.
+ All events that can be completed on a Level 2 Non Speed or Level 2 Speed licence
Pre-requisites
Medical
+ Complete Health Statement on application form each year.
+ Medical Examination by CAMS-designated Medical Examiner.
+ One-off medical examination for those under the age of 45.
+ Ongoing examination every:
  + 24 months for licence holders over 45 years of age
  + 12 months if instructed by the medical examiner.
Assessment
+ Complete a motor sport lecture
+ Undergo an Observed Licence Test (OLT) at which style, ability and attitudes are evaluated.
Age
You must be 16 years of age. There is no junior licence available.

New applicants
1. Click here to download the application form.
2. Make an appointment with a CAMS-designated Medical Examiner and have your medical examination completed.
3. Submit your application form to the Member Services Centre.
4. If there are no problems with your application, you will be sent a pre-licence authority.
5. Book in with your CAMS state office for the motor racing lecture (or call the Member Services Hotline 1300 653 529 to arrange to do the lecture online). Click here to see the list of competition lectures coming up in your area. Ensure when you pass the lecture that your pre-licence authority is signed by the course presenter.
6. Complete your observed licence test (OLT). Contact your state office for more information.
7. Submit your pre licence authority back to CAMS.
8. Provided there are no problems, your licence will be sent to you.
Renewals
Ensure you have completed your medical examination if required to do so (if you are over 45, you need to do one every two years) before submitting your application. Even if you are not due for a medical examination, you still need to fill out the health statement. If you have not received your renewal forms, contact Member Services on 1300 653 529.
Upgrades to Provisional Circuit
Complete your application as a new applicant (see above).
